Public Transportation – Option
(cost $8 one way)
- Fly into Quito, Ecuador Airport
- Take Uber or Taxi to Quitumbe Bus Station (Bus Station Quito Sur). Taxi’s are generally very inexpensive in intown Quito.
- Take bus to Puyo (Transportes San Francisco). Around 6 hours to get to the Puyo Bus station
- Arrive in Puyo, take local Taxi to Sacha Wasi Tribal Community (Around 30 minute drive) – contact Puyo Drivers (Lulu, Alfredo or Oscar).
- We recommend that you establish contact with your taxi drivers via WhatsApp the day before your pick up. Make preliminary arrangements.
- Taking the bus to Puyo can be a bit more challenging if you do not speak Spanish or if you have little travel experience in foreign countries.
- The public buses in Ecuador have a good reputation for being safe, comfortable, clean and usually have WIFI – unfortunately bathrooms are generally not available on the bus.
- The bus takes a few hours longer. It will make stops along the way. Bathroom breaks. Passengers pick ups and drop offs.
Private Transportation - Option
(cost $200 one way)
- Fly into Quito, Ecuador International Airport – aim to arrive in Quito before 12 pm or earlier if possible. If you arrive later in the day, it may be too late to arrive at Sacha Wasi. It’s not recommended to arrive at Sacha Wasi after dark. You will need a hotel overnight.
- If you need a hotel overnight, we recommend Elizabeth’s family owned business class Airbnb near the airport – $30 per night (very clean & friendly) includes breakfast. Contact Andres below to make reservations.
- If you arrive before 12pm, the driver will meet you outside the customs area and will take you directly to Sacha Wasi
- With this private transport, your options are wide open. Stop for lunch in Baños, take bathroom breaks when needed, zip-lining over the rainforest canopy near Baños.
- Guest should plan to arrive at Sacha Wasi between 3-6pm.
- Recommended method of transportation.
